Been a bit under the weather most of Christmastime 2013, and coupled with a particularly busy work schedule, it hasn’t been the most rambunctious of holidays. That said, my brother is in town and having the family together is what is most important.
So coming home from work yesterday, we had plans for a simple New Year’s Eve dinner, with brother cooking his famous carbonara, and a dear hula sister coming over to meet the family. I get home and mom has busted out the fancy settings and before you know it, looks like I have to dress for dinner!
A lovely time was had, just sitting around the table, sharing stories and eating good food with people I love. Memories are made of this! Midnight came and went and instead of the cava, we did shots of NyQuil. We rang in the New Year with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne on the ukulele and tucked myself in for the night.
My annual twelfth night party is this Sunday. While poised to be a much larger affair, I’m hoping this general feeling of gemütlichkeit sticks around all of 2014.
Happy New Year to all!
